We just purchased Bangor and Aroostook's caboose C-68 and will have it moved to a camp lot on one of the local lakes. The old girl has not been on the road for quite a number of years and has been badly vandalized. Its going to take a lot of work to get it back to livable conditions again. An engineer on the B & A gave use an artilcles on our caboose that appeared in an employee magazine back in 1968. Does anybody have stories or pictures of our caboose? Thanks, Wayne

I enjoy modeling CR cabeese in HO scale. I've accumulated a fair number of slide pictures of Conrail subjects, mostly from 1978 to 1990. I'm in the process of getting "computorized" as far as my data-base is concerned. your sites have been a great help in filling the gaps in my records. My next step is to acquire a scanner for the slides I have, alot of which I have'nt seen on any of the webs. Please advise me of the best way to scan and send pictures to you. Thanks for your great web-site, let me know how i can be of any help to you.

I am looking to purchase a caboose for incorporation into my house (deck). I have no idea what is required in terms of transporting the caboose from an active rail spur to my home, or where I would obtain the necessary track section on which to sit the caboose once it was delivered. Any help along those lines would be most appreciated. I do live within one mile of an active CSX line (the old B&O main line) with an active passing siding and service spur accessable by nornal vehicular traffic.

I've been modeling O-scale trains for 3 years now and Conrail is the motive-power of choice for me. My rolling stock collection is ever increasing and Conrail is very much a part of it. Being in Conrail country, I often drive to the Elkhart yard in Elkhart, Indiana to view some hot action. SD-60's, 70's 80's, 8-40CW's...the action is great and one pastime I thoroughly enjoy. Nice Site. I'm a member of Danbury Railway Museum, and we now have in our collection 2 PRR Box cars, 1 PRR Hopper and one EL Hopper. All are in there orginal paint and lettering. We also have 1 PRR N-5 caboose under restoration, and 2 New Haven cabooses. 1 is partially restored and the other is as recieved from Conrail.

My neighbor happens to be a Tom Wolfgang. Saw your site link on the above along with your name. Figured that someone with your name and an interest in Conrail was probably from Pennsylvania. Never really expected to find that you are from Wellsville. Please check out http://www.arrowweb.com/Ma&Pa We aren't the ones you've read about in the newspaper.

Yes, that is true, but this guest has TWO cabooses located at the foot of Sand Patch Grade in Hyndman, PA. Both are restored and very liveable. They are ex-C&O cabs 903556, and 904115, the former a cupola cab and the latter a bay window. I'm always happy to respond to fellow caboose owners or those that are trying to get one, spot it etc.

I am glad to see what you are doing. Every time I go out, I think that sometime soon, all that blue will be black and that our chances of seeing (and shooting) it will fade into "I should have, could have, would have, but never did".
Having grown up along the B&O and close to the Pennsy and later the Reading, I kick myself for all that I missed on film (even black and white). Now Conrail is about to join the rest.
