McCarthy - St. Augustine, FL merrymac@aug.com 15 Nov 1998 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments: Utica, NY - Detroit, MI - Philadelphia, PA - Retired RR 40 yrs Tony at Miracle of America Museum - Polson, Montana 19 Nov 1998 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments: Congrats on your nice site! Our 501(c)(3) non-profit and tax exempt museum received donation of 40' RF&P caboose # 938. Due to costs of conversion fr friction to roller bearings, and/or of piggybacking it west on a DDC flatcar, and the costs and risks to the caboose of trucking it, we've agreed to trade it straight across for a caboose to be found out here closer to Polson, Montana. Problem we can't find one to make the trade fly. Do you or any website visiters know of one in the NW states or western Canada Provinces? Or one we might lease and restore with our several eager railfan volunteers? We already have a stub track in our museum yard, on which we have a Porter S1 steam locomotive (no firebox on the S1-S4 series, so they could be safely used in creosote-filled tie treatment plants without torching their products and several speeders. MOAM also has donated railroad collections, but these are still packed away in crates for lack of a caboose in which to display the many railfan items. MOAM was visited this year by folks from all 50 states, all 5 Territories, and 23 foreign countries. MOAM has a "Day in The Museum" program for western Montana school field trips, and runs an annual Living History Day, usually in early July, with live artisan demos, old time fiddlers, steam and horse sawmills, shingle mill, quilting, blacksmithing, etc. If you can assist us in finding a close-by caboose please contact Tony at Paul Ferguson - Berthoud, CO paul@ferg.com 21 Nov 1998 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments: Looking for a caboose to purchase. Thanks especially for the detailed information you have on Conrail Cabooses. It has been invaluable to me for research on a modeling project involving an N-21 caboose. I plan to work on modeling a local caboose still in operation. I have pictures of it but nothing set up on the internet yet. It is CR21295 that can be found in the railyard at Anderson, IN. R. G. James Le Fresne - Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, Canada train.station@ns.sympatico.ca 6 Feb 1999 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments: e presently own 8 Canadian National Railway (CN) cabooses , 2 boxcars , and a 1928 passenger car which we still use on a railway line just 40 minutes from us. We now also buy and sell railway cars under the name INTERCOLONIAL RAILWAY ICR . this business developed because the general public could not deal with the railways here in Canada when it came to buying a caboose. The railways would like to only deal with a proven customer or scrap co. As for our Train Station it was built in 1887 and I grew up beside it. The station was put up for demolition in 1972 so I bought the station so it would not be destroyed, I was 18 at the time. Now it operates as a B&B. Please visit our web sit to see the story. Randy Broadwater - Hockessin, DE ChessieSys@aol.com 5 Feb 1999 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments: I am seeking to purchase an ex-B&O bay-window caboose. I would prefer something pre-Chessie, especially an I-18 or C-26, but will consider any B&O/Chessie caboose. I also may be able to negotiate a trade for an ex-Conrail N7A. Thanks. Doreen Edwards - Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada xqzme@hotmail.com 8 Feb 1999 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments: In Dec of 1998 I was given an oppertunity to purchase a really old wooden caboose that had been used as a hunting lodge and sitting in a open field not far from winnipeg and more importantly from gimli where my husband and I own 40 acres and need an extra guest house. The deal however seems to have fallen thru and I would still love to have one. SO....any canadians out there that has a old caboose they want to sell preferbally in Manitoba. let me know Doreen Edwards xqzme@hotmail.com Mike Varvel - Carbon, IN mmvarvel@ccrtc.com 10 Feb 1999 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comments: I enjoyed your site. I am looking for a caboose. I live close to a Conrail (CSX) line. so I could get it pulled to the local siding and go from there. I don't know what this would run money wise but if I can afford it I want to go for it. My five year old son loves trains as much or more than I do. Thanks.
