Unit number 38 at The Red Caboose Motel in Strasburg, PA. The paint job may be a bit confusing for a DL&W car but at least it is more or less intact. August, 1997.

N-8D Class Data
57 cars 19903-19909, 22000-22009 ex EL ex DL&W C-850 to C-910.
Welded, round roof cupola type, built on old steam locomotive tender frames from 1951 to 1954 by the Lackawanna in their Keyser Valley shops. Most of these cars were scrapped before renumbering. Some of the cars had sliding window screens installed. The 19900 series cars were renumbered from the 22000 series.

Modeling the N-8D
HO
A brass model of the Erie Lackawanna C861-C910 cabooses was produced. They were imported by Overland Models in Aug of 1986. The importer number is OMI-1209.

HO and other scales Scratch building is your only other choice for this class. This round roof cupola style was built on the frames of retired steam locomotive tenders, MDC/Roundhouse 26' two window caboose would be something to start with.

Any additional tips would be appreciated!
